Hey guys, finally got back out digging and recovered this small gold item. Dug among colonial and 1812 era relics.

Sweet find. I have been wondering where you have been, you find some of the greatest stuff:icon_thumleft:

Solid gold?

Rather crudely cast...

And there's that curious triangle hole at the bottom...

Petal or leaf from a brooch? :dontknow:

Part of a locket?

As my one armed brother was fond of saying, "I'm stumped". His sense of humor was a little warped. I miss him.

No clue but wont let that stop me:happysmiley: Scrap gold used for cash? It has a rough cut/filed edge on the spoon like lip. Maybe thumb piece off a flintlock with the monogram wore off? Repurposed native ear ring?

Part of a vest pocket hook for a watch chain?

I20200506_165012.jpgs it me or when i zoom in on the top side i see a plant starting from bottom right and spreading out towards the top. and above the hole 2 capitol A's one above the other with possible smaller letters after them. While i'm at it i see a horizontal sword, pommel left, guard up in upper part of bush/plant. probably all scratches but i got plenty of time lately.
