I found this disc when I was scouting my new location, I initially thought it was a coin, but its much bigger. I took DFX Daves advice and zapped it to pull of the rust....any ideas?

If I didn't know better I'd say it was a Roman sestertius...but that wouldn't make sense for a US (I assume??) find. Other options given its size... bronze medal, 1797 british cartwheel 2 pence, MAYBE 1806-7 British penny since those were pretty big (but not sure they were THAT big), or a really big 18th to 19th copper token -- US, British, maybe French

We could rule out or verify each one of these suggestions and perhaps millions more if the OP could provide the diameter and weight of the disc.

If it had/has rust, it pretty much rules out a coin. Evaporust time!

It could be a George 3rd 'Cartwheel' penny. They weighed 1 OZ or 28.3 grammes and had a diameter of 36mm. If it is then it is dated around 1798.

Does it stick to a magnet?
