Hello everyone, this is my first what is it post, after many hours of searching to figure it out on my own.

The item is 1.5" diameter, appears to be stamped brass, at least three pieces (two discs joined by the stud or rivet in the middle) and has no markings except the sunburst type rays stamped around the edge. No idea what it is or why it has three holes. No material (cloth, leather) observed between the two disc parts, though I think there once may have been.

Other items dug in the immediate area (with permission) date from 1787 (copper coin and reale) through Civil War (military buttons and 1865 2 cent piece). Used to be a small settlement and plantation near Savannah GA. On route of Sherman's March to the Sea. Thanks for any help!! unknown1.jpgunknown2.jpg
