mystery copper, clear "c" in center

Found at old plantation site. 33mm OD. 7.1 grams. Copper composition. I thought at first it was a big button, but have become convinced that the "c" is intentionally struck and is not a broken or worn off attachment point. There is no sign of any attachment point having broken off on the other side side. It is really more coin-like than button like. I have found quite a few slave relics in the immediate area where this was found...some 18th century, though the plantation was active throughout the 19th as well...

The c looks like a stem or ring was attached there, a guess would be a button.

That is what I thought at first. The more I look at it, the more convinced I am that the "c" is intentionally struck. It may be a button, but if so, I believe strongly that this side is the front. And it would be a really big button. Also, the back shows no sign of any attachment points having worn or broken off. Thanks.

Could be the shank of a button hammered in leaving the mark, and then the shank broke off. Buttons actually used to be used as coinage in some places at various time.

I have to agree with button.
This item does not appear to be "Struck" or Embossed in any way.
