Looks like a fake cob or fake doubloon to me. :-\

Wow. Your eyes must have popped out! I would have had a heart attack. You should have left the shells on it. It would look cool. Cant say for sure by the pic, but it looks as if someone is seeding the beaches with pot metal fake gold colored doubloons. :D

this is really strange an this fake cob pic. is a really close match. as far as someone seeding the beach this is really strange because of were I found it.Longboat Key at 1 of those out of the way areas, not really a place someone would place a fake for someone to find,I could see this on the treasure coast but not here .I could tell when I first picked it up ,it was not silver or really, really old, but didn't have a clue as to what kind of coin it was .

Someones idea of a practical joke. lol I can see the humor in it, I guess. More likely a tourist bought it as a souvenir, maybe from Disneyworld, and lost it out of their pocket. Can you read the date on the right?
