OK, I found this today in a field that had a house from mid-1800s to maybe 1870, based on maps and items found there. I also once found what I'm convinced is a counterfeit Seated Half dollar, some Civil War infantry buttons (Minnesota 1st) and a number of other artifacts. But this one has me baffled. Doesn't seem to be anything on the flip side... at least nothing remains to be seen. In fact, there isn't much to be seen anywhere except for one small area at the bottom where I can see the date 1865 followed by a five pointed star and some text... I think the letters "ST" and then some others that I can't make out. Might be a "D" preceeding the date, too.

It is 1 1/4" (30mm) in diameter. Seems to be pewter, but that's just my guess.

There's not much to go on, for sure, but I'm hoping that maybe somebody will recognize the little that is still there.
