I went detecting for a bit with my left arm up at the trusty farm. I decided to roam around a new part after hitting my spot for about 30 minutes.

My normal spot gave up another coin/token, extremely hard to identify. I have stared at this thing, turned it 25 different ways, and even tried using filters on my computer to make an image pop... I've seen a crown, a man standing... At this point, I just want to bring this to a coin guru and see if they can get detail off of it. I think I see 17** for the date :dontknow: But here are a few roasty and toasty pics of the coin.

First photo is no filter, and the other two have filters and I rotated the picture in one of the photos also.

I didn't just stop at the coin. I dug every signal I hit, pulled about 15-20 nails and a few iron relics that I will be putting through my electrolysis machine. I love all kinds of relics. Especially when they last about 300 years to tell the story of who was walking the same grounds as where I stand now! A couple of buckles in the area with a cool knife and some surface glass and pottery. One piece almost looks like a small piece of moulding for something. Can it be piece of a key? (A large key?)

I ended up wandering away from my normal spot across the farm where a grass field was just mowed. I dug about 8 cans, modern junk and this random button! Still has a very small spot on the edge of Gilt and a wicker pattern on the front. This find made me happy.

After I dug this button I walked away because the digging in the harder soil is a little too rough for my healing shoulder. What's a detecting day without a horseshoe and a random hitch item ?? that rings your ear off!!

Thanks for the read! Cheers! :occasion14:

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

awesome "left handed" finds!

Might be able to get an ID on that coin if you scrape some of the gunk off. I don't think it will remove any important details.

Try a toothpick or Andre's pencils if you have them.

Thanks grasshopper. I was a little hesitant on scraping because it seems pretty brittle and I didn't want to lose more of a chance of identifying it. I have toothpicks. I'll try lightly and hopefully won't wipe the coin more.

Cool and interesting finds!!!!

Nice finds! The random hitch item is a bracket used to attach a guy wire to a wooden power pole.

With a copper coin that I do t see any details, I immediately figure it is a KG coin unless it is thick, then maybe an early LC.

If it has no apparent details, you really have nothing to lose. I would soak a scotch Brite pad and use it to remove the layer of crud and corrosion. Don?t scrub to the point that you are into the raw copper. 50% of the time some after drying some small recognizable details appear in the base metal and I feel the cleaning was well worth it. 50% of the the time you end up with a clean smooth disk. On the contrary, If details are visible in the crud and corrosion I progress with cleaning much more carefully as all the details may only be present on this fragile surface. Good luck!

Whole lot of good finds! Thanks for sharing with us.

Horseshoes just mean more luck is coming your way
