Mystery button

this button has been in my collection for several years. It was purchased at a flea market. It was in a bag with ordinary buttons.
It is a silver metal and appears to be a dagger or what I think might be a railroad spike thing. It is a silver metal material. the back which is the first picture
is just a plan key shank. Sorry
the pictures are not so good as the metal reflects terribly. I appreciate any information anyone finds about it. As it has had me stumped
for years. Thanks.

I am obsessed with this button. I have thousands of buttons in my collection. I can tell you information on all of them. Even if all
I know is what material it was made of and when it was made, I have that information. This bizzare button is a great big blank.
Who makes a button with a giant nail/spike thing on it? I have been focusing on railroad reserach, but maybe I should change
focus and see if I can find the nights of the nail or some such lodge, lol.

That is great. I wish there was information on the significance of it is. I mean I can figure
out who would wear a nail button. Maybe formal wear for a carpenter

The spike/nail may be purely a design for a civilian button. I like the spike buttons

I think it could be civillian too. Does not seem to have the kind of markings I would
expect for miitary. However, who the heck would wear clothing with a spike button?
I feel it must signify something. nice nik btw, lol.

I know nothing at all about this But everytime i look at this picture the first thing that pops into my head is Christ on the cross, Any chance it could be religous in some form or fashion? Just asking a dumb question I guess.

It has no dagger "handle" so I don't think so.

Not dumb at all! I have thought the same. Have spent much time looking online for clergy buttons, priest buttons,
Jesus nail buttons ect. Have not found anything like my button. Good thought though.
