brass thing 001.webp brass thing 003.webp brass thing 005.webp brass thing2 001.webp brass thing2 002.webp What in the world is this???:icon_scratch: :icon_scratch::icon_scratch: It was found in my front yard but years ago there was an old house there and I have found a few civil war artifatcts in the yard also. The object in question is hard brass material, 2 3/4 inches tall and 2 inches across. Very heavy and is notched out on each side. Hollowed out in the middle. One end has two holes that appear to have been drilled out . There is nothing stamped or marked on this object. There is also an area that looks to have been filed out next to a notch about the size of your thumb. Whatever this object is, it looks to have taken a hard hit sometime because it is cracked and very warped. Human hands couldnt have twisted or cracked it. It sorta looks like a rod journal off a crankshaft but I have never known one to be made of brass. Any suggestions what it could be besides a chunk of scrap metal right now lol?:icon_scratch:

Looks like a crosshead crankshaft bearing, or steam valve rod bearing from an early steam engine. The old oil field engines had crossheads also. Tony
