Found this "what is it" in an old park dating back to just before WWI but I don't think it's that old. It's nonferrous on the filigree part but a magnet will stick to both sides in the rusted middle. It looks the same on both sides and is made in two parts with a rivet and small hole in the middle. The filigree part is probably made of brass or copper and was once gold plated. It has a lot of small fine detail. You can tell the size by comparing it with my fingers in the pic. I took the pic that way so you could see it was hollow in the middle. I thought it might be a locket before I cleaned it up and discovered it wasn't. Then my thoughts turned to button but it's really too big and heavy for a button. Maybe part of a broach or something similar attached through the hole in the middle? Beats me! Any ideas?
