Mysterious object pat. May 17 1898

I found this object over a year ago and have been putting off getting a positive identification. The thing sounded so good on the ace 250 and nearly blew my ears out. It is not broken and reads patented may 17th, 1898. It is brass and may be silver or nickel plated. I found it literally five feet from an oxen knob that also sounded amazing. Any ideas what it might be?

That type set on the lettering looks very close to this kettle spout. Do you think it could be one flattened?

Large LISK Copper Kettle Wooden Handle Patn. Mark 1896 (12/15/2007)

This is a wonderful early piece from Lisk. The company was later know as Lisk Savory and introduced copper to the American kitchen. This kettle is a fine example of their early work. The seams are turned and crimped at the base of the spout you can see the hammering to get the right shape. The spout is also stamped Patented May, 17, 1896. I can not read the last #, but I think it is a 6.
