i was in my front yard near a large bush and wasn't really expecting to find anything.  anyway i swung my detector and beep beep...  it said silver i believe.  i started digging and found an odd comb thing ???  anybody know what it is???

then i was under another part of the bush and in one hole i dug out alot of pieces from an old kerosene lamp i believe.  and a bottom piece of a light bulb.  ??? how did that get there?

Holey cow, keep on digging, its looking like you have one heck of a killer yard to hunt..wtg on the goodies and git out there n find some more..

it could be what urban prospector said, it makes sense. i was also thinking possibly an aerator for the grass but the spikes look like they are placed too close together.

Flower arranging base. Kids love playing with them because they look fierce but the tines are too closely spaced to do much damage.

That could be a comb for carding(?) sheep's wool. It's used to work the wool. HH M.

Now you are finding the cool stuff, next thing you know you will have a handfull of coins to show us! Good job, and keep digging!!!

Once you clean some of the iron out, you may get some good coin hits. Right now your finding square nails and iron trinkets that are probably throwing off your signals, you may just find some silver and copper in there, keep going! I found many many square nails before finding the good stuff in my yard. I just had to realize that people dropped alot more than just nails and iron.
good luck and keep us posted!!

My first thought when I saw that spikey thang, was one of those things you set furniture legs on to stop them from being moved about too easily on carpeting. But now I see that the prongs are too long ( unless you were using it on very long shag carpet). Great finds, keep diggin' the iron, there may be a "psychedelic eye" down there somewhere..... :icon_jokercolor:

lol... :)

the flower frog idea makes sense... so does the comb for wool... they did have sheep here at one time.

Trust me on this one... it's definitely a frog. My better half worked at a florist years ago, and I've seen dozens (if not hundreds) of those things. I've also dug a couple while metal detecting old yards.

Cool finds, though.
