back to Woodstock, NY with FMERG. half hour into the hunt Frank whistles, gives a motion of scissors above his head-- he snagged a Barber dime. his wife calls so he needs to cut it short (pun intended) and leave at 4PM. a few minutes later the ATP screams 83 at huge root of an old tree. 2 down is my oldest and nicest Merc. ever. IMG_1547.jpgIMG_1548.jpgI leave after that and go to a local park for 2 pristine '50 era wheats and $6.97 in clad, thinking I won the day. Frank calls when I get home--- his Barber dime is 1897-O at VF range. no need to say more, just look it up.:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

Your Merc is really nice. Must have been dropped very soon after it was minted. Congrats!

Glad to see that the ATP is doing well for you.

Seems like you two had a little competition going. I would still be proud of a 1917 merc. It's 2 years older than my oldest merc.

Very nice merc

Your Merc has nice detail congrats!

Sometimes you just have to let it go, you were done in by a dig 'n run! Next time it 's your turn!

That is one sweet Merc!! You don't see the early dates looking that nice very often- Congrats!! As for Frank's 1897-O dime, I found one years ago, so I know he scored- congrats to him as well!

Great find. Older Mercs make you feel real nice!

for 98 years old and in the ground, that merc has a ton of detail on it, id say it was dropped and cradled for all those years

nice one!
