Unfortunately, my latest find will barely show up, but I still felt like sharing.
It was located during a sidewalk tear out and was up on edge. My CZ 3 D wouldn't
let it go and I eventually located the coin. I was sure it was just a token till I saw
the "of America" on the rim. That was about all I could make out and I thought I
had found my first large cent. Later after an olive oil bath I noticed the "S" I couldn't
imagine was an S was doing on a coin. The word "cents" clicked in my mind and I
rushed to the computer. I guess I had heard of 2 cent pieces, but never thought about
finding one. I just wish it was a little rounder with more detail.

Congrats...I found my first 2 cent a few weeks back. It is always nice to find a first.

I am in central Indiana. Our city has been doing a sidewalk replacement and I have found a lot of stuff this year.
Found a shield nickel dated 1865 and it was my oldest coin until the 1864 two cent piece showed up.

Looks like it was laid on a streetcar or railroad track. Nice find!

Nice! Stay at it! Here's to your next one! Found several old wheats and IH's on and in the old streetcar rails when they tore those up some years back around here. The only key date just happened to look like yours, maybe it got "railed" too!

I found one that is in bad shape too. I imagine finding more of them, so could you.

Keep @ it and HH!!

Bob nailed it: sweet coin, bitter condition! Still, a nice find; you're not responsible for the shape it's in!
