My summer project (day 3) now we're talking!!!

Today i went into the woods behind my house in Tewksbury Ma.
Making my way around the swamp and through the thickets I came across a rusted out car.
Don't know exactly what make but I will say it looks like the parts of a Bonnie and Clyde car. I didn't bring my camera but I will tomorrow to take some pics.
I put what looks like the giant fenders and the back seat along with the large headlight frames and cylinder shaped gas tank in a pile along with many other rusted out parts.
there was a lot of what seemed to be chicken wire around the site and many old glass jars, I took a few home and cleaned them up, Here's the pics.
I'm going back tomorrow to clean up the site some more so I can get in there with my detector. I will take pics of the car parts and post them tomorrow.
The jar with the writing on it says, Dagget and Ramsdells Chemists around the edge, perfect cold cream in the
middle. I'm hoping we can age the site from this.
I love when the season finally makes it here, what a blast.

Re: My summer project

If you're finding chicken wire spiral out from that spot and look for a home site. No one puts the chickens too far from the house as you have to get the eggs each morning.

Or, if it's rabbit wire to keep critters out of the garden - same thing. Gardens are near homes.

The wire would indicate 1900's or later, but that's still prime silver coin era.

Keep us posted!

Re: My summer project ( sorry guys, now the pics are there )

1892: Cold cream is introduced by New York apothecaries V. Chapin Daggett and Clifford Ramsdell, who substitute white mineral oil for the perishable vegetable oils that have been used until now and create a product that does not turn rancid.

As far as I know they are still in business

Nice bottles, Sandman. Sounds like you could've found a sweet spot.

Dose bottle? Looks like a Mucilage glue bottle to me. Top was a clever affair of rubber with a slit so you could apply & smear with one hand.

Re: My summer project (day 3) now we're talking!!!

I knew I couldn't get one by you Charlie.
Thanks for the heads up.

Nice finds and glass! Did you check the car for any coins? I mean those typical places where coins could fall down into the seats. HH, Mike

Re: My summer project (day 3) now we're talking!!!

Mike the more I dug I figured out that somebody was dumping their trash there about 80 years ago. Way to many old cans and broken glass, tons of broken bottles. The car is in parts, fenders, seat, headlight frames, gas tank, all rusted out. there was a lot of old tobacco tins that i wish weren't all rusty and corroded, I was able to make out the writing on one of them. I do have around twenty more cool jar finds though.
