My sort of gps hunt

Got back in the woods today with the Garmin to take me to the next waypoint. In about a hundred or so feet, I came upon a large pile of stones, but the area didn't appear to be a home site. Checking around, there were numerous areas with iron in the ground. I turned up loads of shotgun shell casings, horseshoes, and a sewing thimble. Decided to find the waypoint of the day and really did't find much there; I think the 1896 map is off. From there I went up to the high point of the peninsula and found more there in the way of shotgun shells, a small cache of metal files, and what really looks like a cellar hole. In the middle of the depression, under several flat field stones, I got a choppy signal, but high; it turned out to be a cuff button with complete shank. All I can make out on the back is 'Treble Gilt'; this looks like a 19th century button. Looking forward to more exploration in this area. Stay tuned and happy hunting.

Congrats on the load of headstamps and other nice finds. Like the button too.

Looks like some good sites and I like the thimble. Another item on my wish lists. HH

I'd seen these found by you-tubers but had not recovered one until this year; this one is my second for 2015. Just starting to explore this area and will be looking for other old maps and present aerial views from the winter months.

The button flipped out with the field stones. It's small, so at first I wasn't sure what the pinpointer was responding to - one of the rocks? The button is a nice reward for all the shell backings (20) dug that afternoon.

MC DIG LOOKS LIKE YOU HAD A GOOD DAY NEAT OLE HORSE SHOES AND THE FILES ALL IN DIFFRENT SIZES THOUGHT MAYBE YOU HAD FOUND THE REMAINS TO A BLACKSMITHS SHOP. SOMEBODY WAS REALLT FIRING UP THE SQUIRRELS OR SOME TYPE OF FOWL WITH ALL THE HEAD STAMPS YOU FOUND. COOL THIMBLES AND NEAT GILT BUTTON.

Can't wait to get back. Every time I find a headstamp I'm searching the immediate area for other signals. That's when the thimble turned up.
