Continued on my water hunts as most of my fields aren't accessible yet. After going back to the spot where I have found some nice relics on St-Lawrence without much success decided to follow the river down the stream and after a pretty long walk started to notice some new patches of pottery on the ground. Turned on my detector and after a few junk targets pulled almost from the surface a half penny sized copper disc. At that moment knew I might be on something interesting and wasn't disappointed at the end. That afternoon pulled 9 more copper tokens (mostly in a really bad shape) a beautiful 76th regiment button from 1812 or before (was a bit surprised as my previous 76th from a year ago was found a good hour drive closer to Montreal) and a 1907 Edward VII quarter.
Going back to the highway while following the shore noticed something round and unusual on the ground which turned out to be a piece of cannon ball solid shot (not that solid anymore as is split in half )
Next day decided to go back and again and with good results. One of my first targets was a really nice Marines button, again from around 1812. Than, finally after all those beat coppers a pretty worn 1746 Half Real that someone made into jewelry (pendant or earring?)
The total:
15 coins most are too worn to I.D.
Spanish colonial Half Real 1746 from Mexico mint made into jewelry.
Pretty nice Montreal Half Penny Token 1816 (with Wellington I believe)
3 Spread eagle tokens 1813
Edward VII 1907 silver quarter (my 3 pre-1937 quarter ever)
Also, Marines,76th Regiment of Foot buttons (1812). Half cannon ball and lots of pottery.
Some nice finds but I'm soooo exhausted. Those who mostly hunting in water have all my respect as it's much harder I find than on the dry land.
A great little hunt!
