I found the Liberty cap, the George III in beautiful condition, and what I believe is a George II all today. The 1726 French 12 Sols / 1/10 Ecu I found a month ago but neglected to post. I found the 1866 Indian yesterday. Needless to say I am happy with my recent hauls. I need some help with the Liberty Cap, I am not entirely sure how I should proceed. Should I send it off or bring it to a coin store? All of the people I have shown believe the date is either 1795, 1795 Reeded (:laughing9:), or 1796. I'm still shaking. Also found a War of 1812 Light Artillery Button last weekend in the same area.

Great recoveries! Congrats on the liberty cap, and I applaud your restraint in cleaning; I got greedy and killed mine. I don't have a reference handy, but the kg iii looks counterfeit to me, and possibly a Machin's coin. If no one else chimes in I'll be able to take a closer look tomorrow (to the degree I can help, of course...still learning).

Man, that's some fine dirt you're digging in....

that Ecu is my favorite! Stunning finds all around!

How can I tell if it is? Let me know if you need better pictures. Can you link me to some information on it?

Just did a bunch of research and it appears that Vlack 19-87C has the most similarieties with mine. The roman numerals are all slightly off from eachother, the shield on the back, and the dots on before and after NIA in BRITTANIA match it.

You are right, but the reverse is irrelevant having been used on 6 different varieties... so it's all about the obverse, and even though I didn't see them all, quite sure 19-87c will be it judging by the spacing in the last 4 letters of GEORGIVS. 20-87c changes, so I highly doubt anything to follow would be even close.

The George II is the young head, so 1729-1739... and I believe I'm the one who ID'd your French on FB. :)

Fantastic! Nice going on the ID and confirmation by IP.

Your Machin is in great condition. The two I've found were pretty beat up. Funny enough, they were found with a young head kg ii.

Check into the ties between Harmon's mint and Machin's. Some great history on Vermont coppers and shared production.

Great finds! Congrats on the Machin's Mills and I also love the Light Artillery button

Absolutely awesome Machins counter. And the Light Artillery button deserves its own recognition. My highlight would be those over the cap, but that's pretty awesome too. Congrats - all are absolutely great finds
