Hi Joshua.....How often do you metal detect?.......Now that I am retired, I get out 3 or 4 times a week here in Florida......I found 23 clad Quarters, 13 clad dimes, 25 pennies(2 were wheats) yesterday in a School yard......but my detecting buddy that was with me found a nice 1897 Barber Dime.....along with his clad finds......Good Luck, Hunting....

Well, I've finally found a good partner willing to follow me into those "scary" areas, so I'm finally metal detecting almost every day. Although, usually, Monday - Friday, it's only for 2 hours after work, but hey, you never know what you will find! I've been hitting mostly older areas in Tampa, areas where nobody really cares that you are there, so far so good!

Nice finds! You did better than me I got 7 cents clad on Sunday at a tot lot. Here's some info I found on your lock:

Your warded padlock dates from the early 1900s, and although there are no maker’s marks, the style is very similar to that of locks made by the E. T. Fraim Co. of Lancaster, PennsylvaniAs for the “St. Louis” name, it’s been suggested that this is one of a number of locks issued to cash in on the enormous interest and enthusiasm surrounding the St. Louis World’s Fair, or Louisiana Purchase Exposition, held in 1904. However, purists protest that a true commemorative ought to carry the word FAIR or EXPOSITION, or at least the date 1904. At any rate, it’s a fairly common but collectable little item, usually retailing around $20.

Wow! I really appreciate the information on the lock! I found it at the site of a small catholic school that had been demolished in the early 70s, it's really the only notable thing I found, but, to be honest, I wasn't trying to hard at that site because of the trash! Now I must certainly go back, and be more patient and diligent. Wow, again, thank you so much!!!!

No problem. Glad I could help. HH

You did way better than me, I was busy with Veterans Day stuff and didn't get out at all. Rained on our parade, still a big turnout though.
