Went back to a lot from yesterday. Had an hour to kill. Found this Chinese coin. Did some internet hunting. Looks like it's between 1736-1795. My oldest so far. Makes you wonder how it got to Sarasota,Florida. 20160817_200107.jpg20160817_200154.jpg20160818_062543.jpgthanks for looking.

Thats whats so fun about this hobby. You never know what you are going to dig.

Nice find, congratulations on your oldest coin! :occasion14:

Great find. So, Florida was inhabited by Chinese once?

Welcome to the 1700's club, congrats on pulling your oldest coin. Savor the moment, they don't happen every day.

Maybe it came with the circus performers that lived in Sarasota from the 20's to the 50's

Congrats on an old Chinese cash coin. Too bad you will never know the story. Nice

Chinese coins are spread out all over the US . The Chinese worker's (called cooly's back then) where hired (and bought unfortunitally) to build our railroads and some other stuff , even on ships . The age on them varies because they were used as decorations in their culture . Woodstock

Yes, lots of they are pretty old when they were lost. I'm sure many of these period ones are still lost today. The date of them bare no relationship to when they were lost.

Interesting find. Congrats

I found one a lot like that on a rural farm in KY. Really makes you wonder how in the world it ended up there.
