My mother says it's a barrett but I don't think so

It is brass and I found it at the same location where I have pulled 6 CW bullets. Could this be some sort of military ranking?

Even though it may look like a hair clip. It could be a clip for an officers shoulder board as some did have clips, according to some research I just did briefly.

Here is an officers jacket with Epaulettes rank on the shoulder. The clip could have been used with this type of shoulder rank
