Nokta Legend Pro Pack, Nokta Legend WHP w/ LG24 coil, Nokta Pulse Dive Pinpointer, White's IDX Pro (x2), Vibraprobe 570
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I've been meaning to post my tools for some time, and thought I would do it now that I just picked up a few new items...

My pack is the most important thing (outside of my detector) that I take with me... because I can carry my smaller coil, dagger, extra batteries for the detector & pinpointer, OFF 100% Deet Spray, extra ziplock baggies, metal detecting licenses for certain parks, bandanna, backup digger, food & a couple bottles of spring water.

My Ames True Temper 7-in-1 Planter's Buddy: This thing has serrations and different cutting mediums that make it my favorite digger!

My WWMC Ground Shark 38!

My Vibra Probe 570 Pinpointer: I will not MD without this great tool anymore...

That pretty much sums up my arsenal (for now)...
I'm sure I'll be adding things to my collection down the road.

Thanks for helping us rookies get an idea of what we need to take into the field!

Oh, you're welcome. I still don't see myself as a pro though... :D
I'm sure my setup (especially the pack) is somewhat different than others gear.
Glad that it's given you an idea of some of the stuff you can bring on a hunt. :)

Did you miss putting a source for your pack? Also, you need that Viking identification booklet, and the AAA map showing the shortest way to China.

(Could be an inside joke,folks)

Ha, ha... yeah Warsaw, I do need to find a Viking ID book. Do you think my TomTom GPS unit would suffice instead of the AAA map?
I didn't put a source for my pack, because I can't even begin to remember where I purchased it.
Really, any good backpack with various pouches & pockets would due! It's pretty much just a rucksack type of bag, and you can probably find those at any military surplus store.

Urban P,
Yep, around certain parks with lakes here in Missouri... as well as a state park back in Florida that I detect at.
Either way, it's free to get both of these permits. The permit for the park back home in Florida is a lifetime permit.

Bran <><

Why would they want you to have a permit? Is a reason given? I assume you must ID yourself and your info is recorded. Do you have to have a permitt to hike, jog, picnic or use the parks for other recreation. I' not trying to bag on you or argue , I'm just curious and don't get it. I sure hope California doesn't read about this it's right up their alley.

Well, as far as here in Missouri... I don't know, and those are all reasonable questions. Most of the parks I go to, I just detect because it isn't cited anywhere that detecting is prohibited. If asked to leave, I will gladly do so without any arguments.

As far as the park in Florida, it is a State Park and a historical site as well. There is a standing turn-of-the-century Fort in the park, and the place used to be a bombing range at one point. I would assume that the reason for there, aside from being able to identify you, is that you know you are to keep on the beach only and not trail off around the fort or other areas that could cause problems for you and them. *shrugs*

I don't mind the permits, so long as they are free. I have a blast every time I go out, no matter if I find a penny, a bullet casing, or a better find.
:)

My detector uses 8 AA's, so I keep a pack of 16 backup AA's in my pack... as well as two 9-volts for the Vibraprobe. 8)

When did you get the Whites? Maybe i have been around too long, but last i knew you had the 250.

It was the 150... and the White's was actually sent to me by a T-Net member, shortly after receiving the 150. He was only supposed to be sending headphones to use with the 150... but he sent alot more than just the headphones.

;D thats awesome! Guess its been workin out well for ya then. Aight then, i was just curious.

Things getting better for ya? U werent gone, but for a short time.

Nice post Bran!

I just wanted to let everyone know that the Lesche shovel you have there is not an official George Lesche from PredatorTools.com product.

If you want the official tool and from George's words, "not a knock-off", go here:
http://predatortools.com/item_details.asp?ID=37

Cheaper too :-)

Here's the MFG of the one you have:
http://www.wwmfg.com/default.asp?contentID=1206

Even though it says Lesche, it's not. Just ask George what he thinks of them...

Personally, I have the AP digger from WWMFG, and learned the hard way. It's still in one piece, and definitely better than in ACE hardware shovel, but I still would have preferred to support the man that makes the best tools for MD'ing... spread the word :)

Huh, interesting... I could've swore I've seen the same D-handle shovel on the Predator website at one point, but who knows. ???
After looking at the differences though (I know Lesche makes good products), I would still stick with the model I have over the one you posted. The Predator model is probably alot lighter because of the fiberglass shaft, and mine is definitely hefty... but the welding on the shaft to the blade of mine appears to be stronger than that of the Lesche model. I have no doubt that the one I have would last for a long time and not break (even if I tried)

Thanks for the head's up, and I will modify the title of mine on here just to make sure it's correct.

I know some guys prefer & promote Lesche tools (because of the Lesche trowel), but the tools I've got works just fine in my hands.

Send George an email and see what he says about the quality of the other models. You'll get an earful.

Now I have 3 of the wwmfg tools by dumb luck, I think the dealers just like to push the stuff they can mark up, plus George only has like one official reseller besides himself. But my ground shark bent, and my AP digger is just heavy. I believe the handle is just painted stainless on george's, not fiberglass.

They are all better than stuff from Home Depot or Lowes though.

Just an FYI.

Huh, well I won't debate his workmanship... but I'll stick with my relic shovel.

I actually hacked a good size hole through a steel culvert pipe (with the riffles) with the sharpened edges of the shovel, and it didn't bend or break. If it can take steel, it should be alright in the ground... even the rock laden ground we have here in Missouri.

If mine ever does bend or break, then I'll probably consider one of the Lesche models.

And I was just assuming that the handle on the Lesche shovels were fiberglass... because the one I dug with at the Caldwell Hunt last October felt like it was fiberglass and not steel. *shrugs*

I just picked up that same digger and sheath a few hours ago. Everywhere else I stopped put their "seasonal" items away. How big is the pouch?

Yeah, I tried to find some of the Ames diggers on sale at Home Depot... 'cause I heard they were on sale on another post here on T-Net, but they had none whatsoever.

The pouch is decently sized, but not extremely huge or anything. I'd say probably say that it's maybe around 8 to 10 inches wide. I really would like to get the larger AWP pouch that has two pockets. It would be nice to keep my trash finds separate from my good finds.
