so i got my MD.....wow.....that was fast shipping.......i bought it two nights ago.......anyway.......i can't find a scooper around any local stores here......should i just purchase one online or try to make my own.......any suggestions?
are you talking about a digging tool or a sand scoop for the beach? if your talking about a digging tool i would get some thing in stainless steel that is mode,ed in one piece. i have bought many different types of digging tools and over the years i cant tell you how many that i broke or bent. as a matter of fact i need to go buy me one on sat because the one i have now is starting to bend. i have been out detecting before and had one that broke, end of the trip. when i got my new m.d. about a month ago i should have got the tool that whites had for 40$. good luck :)

Good Luck with your new MD!!
When I bought my first scoop, I went cheap and got a plastic one..
Bad mistake.. Invest in a good metal one...I bought mine online..

HH!!

I got the gator digging tool when I bought my minelab and have had it for 6 years now, and it still works great. Its saw edges are wore down but it doesn't seem to hinder it at all.

Definitely invest in a stainless steel digging tool for either dry land or a stainless steel scoop for the beach.

I just use an OXO garden trowel that I picked up at Lowes for $10. It has a serrated edge for cutting small routes, it is a solid 1 piece unit that has held my 270lb fat but up when wedged between the shelving at Lowes(had broken several other trowels digging so decided to test the bendability), and it also has a great rubber handle that is easy on the hands when digging. I can't find a sand scoop(other than online) so I use my OXO on the beach too, and dump the dirt into the strainer from a fridaddy cooker...LOL. Hey it works!

Keep on keeping on and happy hunting?

Good stuff IOWA!!!! Can ya clip the frydaddy strainer to your belt? Just think, sand scoop by day, hot wing cooker by night.

I know OXO makes some quality cookware. Plenty of chefs swear by the OXO tongs. I love mine. I just may check out the trowel next time I'm in Lowes.

invest in a lesche or a gator digging tool.they are built for heavy use, and will save you money over the long haul. might cost you 35 or 40 bux now. as opposed to 10 bux over and over and over. not to mention the frustration of being 3 miles in the woods on a hunt and your digger breaks! just my opinion.
