I hit my usual spot today. There were people crawling all over the place. Right away I found myself looking at what they had on. You know the items that might fall off into the water and hopfully I would find something. The water was great and the endless questions: What are you looking for? What do you see? Found anything good? kind of get old. But I guess that is what I should expect.
This time I found the goods. My buddie ended with some clad and a $20 digital watch. It was still working so he was pretty happy with it.
I turned up with a 10 k gold class ring with a 2008 date. The kid has not even graduated yet. I'm sure he is pretty upset about the loss. It has no name for the High school but it does have the mascot on it and the boy's first name. Plus with the activities that it shows on the side I thought there might still be some hope of getting it back to the kid. I know he would want it.
I retraced a few of my old search areas, you never know what might get dropped. A turned up a nice Relic watch. Kind of funny it is pretty similar to the one I usually wear. The band was broken but I just took it to a local department store and they put it together for no charge. You go Wal-mart.
I also turned up about 5 pairs of sunglasses that were immediately taken from me by my girlfriend and her sister. They thought they needed them more. In addition I found 2 pair of perscription glasses. I usually take them down to the Lions Club. The Lion's can clean them up and give them to people that don't have the money or insurance to buy those kind of things. Kind of my feel good thing.
When I was putting away my equipment one man came up to me and asked if I had found any pairs of glasses. I produced the two that I found. He said he had seen me searching in the water and he was hoping just on the off chance I had found his. After squinting at the glasses in my hand, he picked up a pair, stating he thought these were his. He was so happy to be able to see for his trip back to Portland, Oregon. It would have been a long trip squinting without them to see.
All and all I got the treasure bug out of me for a day or two.
