Local movie store closed up about 4 years ago. Guy who owns the building came to us as we're another local business that could use some shelving. Said the building was built in 1911 and was a pharmacy till the 50's.

Inside was well stripped but he said the basement was full of junk. He has to clean it all out to get the building ready for sale.

Went downstairs and we are totally overwhelmed. We have two trucks but we might have to rent a box truck!

So far we've found this giant Rexall Drug sign. Double sided but neon is broken on both sides. I know they can be restored however!

If anyone knows an approximate value that'd be cool too.

Going back tomorrow to get some old bikes... there's a pile of mostly 70's looking racing bikes but one said "JOHNSON" on the front and has wooden rims. Bike looks totally complete down to the bell on the handlebars and is NOT a rusty pile of junk!

I'll update as I find more!

And then they resell it for twice the money. Ebay it yourself and keep ALL the money minus the small comission. That sign even with broken neon would bring a few bucks. I buy old stuff at estate auctions, yard sales & flea markets myself and there is good money to be made selling what others consider junk. The only way I would ever reccomend selling to a re-seller like the American Pickers guys is if you simply don't have the time or the space to handle it yourself and in that case I'm make a package deal & make them take it all rather than cherry pick the goodies and leave you with the crap. Post pics of the other stuff if you can. There's lots of people here who can tell you what it's worth.

Cool sign! I agree with NHBandit , sell it yourself!
Cant wait to see pics of the bikes! :headbang:

Yeah but you gotta remember, they have Clients to buy that stuff! you gotta go find someone to buy it!!! and hope it sells! + your gas and time to do said things.

late 60's/early 70's bicycles can be worth a buck or two as well. Would love to see a few pics of them, as well as the Johnson. My other obsession is bicycles. I'm sure I could hook you up with buyers, depending on where you call home. Feel free to PM if interested.
To quote Calvin, "Treasure is Everywhere"!!

Looks like fun.

Jules

Yeah they also have bought those as well!, $100-200

Yeah, the American Pickers would have jumped on that. That bike you mentioned may be an early Iver Johnson. I'd like to see the pics!

I'd also suggest contacting Antique Archeology, let these guys take a look at the pics of what you've got there. Then if you don't like what they have to say or offer . . . then sell it yourself!

Not sure if you are kidding around with this, but Antique Archeology is the name of the business that the two guys from American Pickers own.

No man, I'm not kidding give them a call!

Yes, these are the guys from the History Channel TV Show and this is exactly the type of stuff they're interested in. All it takes is a phone call; let us all know how it works out for you.
