That's a 20mm aircraft gun casing. There's tons of them in most oceans of the world. It's the standard round used on most of the world's fighter aircraft.

43 indicates the year it was made as in 1943. All the .50 cal that I find are 42, 43, 44. No 1945's yet.

I have one that has a 43 on it too. What does that mean?
 

I guess almost all of us have found one in the past few weeks.

They're a cool part of history. It's neat we can still find them.

Now that was a cool bit of info.... to look on the bottom and find the year. I guess from what the guys are saying they are pretty common but still...... a good find as far as i'm concerned. WTG TX
