I think it was a bug coffin..was that a bug stuck to it in the before pic? I don't have an answer , but I like it. I love the old iron. Somebody shod have an answer for you, it certainly looks like it was made for a specific purpose . Good luck

AT first glance I'm thinking iron fence decoration...but then I took a better look and think this a handle for the old wood cook stoves with round plates that had a notch to stick handle in to open when hot to add more wood to stove so granny could cook bisquits. I miss those days...sorta.

I was thinking that too... Most have a lil curve to em. These are what I found

But that's not quite it, it appears to be a handle of some sort though . Don't go by what I say, I'm no expert
No real answer to this yet, hmmmm. Maybe this will bump it up. Sometimes the answer is so obvious , but we don't see it . I feel like that should be the case with this .

for what i do not know , but as deep as the depression is and even with all the age and rust it still looks like it was a crisp depression and not sloped edges .
