I just returned from Northern Indiana helping my brother get moved here to NC. Did a small amount of detecting, but very briefly at each spot. Felt like I was running a marathon with my brother constantly bugging me with "let's get going". (He doesn't MD)
Hit an old farm, but my detector freaked out there for some reason (soil or power lines)? It kept chirping, and couldn't be controlled. Very weird. I hit an old school out in the country, school in town, and a few other old sites.
It was great to be back home to see family and friends, even if it was a brief trip. I have tons of spots in mind now to detect at back there, so I will be back. Only next time, I'm going to detect at MY pace. ;D
The farmhouse with the old Studebaker truck is my Dad's place.
My few finds were:
*A 1890 IH that I am still trying to get cleaned up. It is my 2nd IH, and also my 2nd oldest coin to date. Ya-hoooo.
*A small old button. I can make out "Extra" on the backmark, and possibly "B(?) & H".
Any idea on this button?
*An old spoon with "Wm. Rogers" and "(?)4" stamped on it.
Any idea on this one?
*Skeleton keys, pottery shards, etc.
*Clad.
Thanks for looking & have a great week,
MM ;)

Re: My Indiana Finds

Nice finds MM. :) Congratulations on another IH.

Like those keys. Very cool. 8)

Looks like a lot of great spots to detect. I think you need about a week for all those sites.

Re: My Indiana Finds

Nice finds, MM. I really like the skeleton keys. Congrats on your second IH! Nice pics. Nothing worse than being rushed when you don't want to hurry.

Now you can tell that's an old playground as it still has the wooden teeter totters. :) We don't see them around here anymore, too much of a liablity?

Re: My Indiana Finds

Neat finds man. Nice pics too. Looks like a lot of potential at those sites. HH!

Re: My Indiana Finds

Wow, I'll say one thing, there are no skeletons in your closet, you found them all. LOL.

Great bunch of finds in the little time you had. If you need any help hunting those sites, your not to far from NW Ohio, I'll drive over. Ha Ha.

Thanks for posting the pictures, they always make for a great post.

HH, Ringfinder

P.S. Don't worry about the IH, they look like that coming out of our darn clay soil up here in the north.

Re: My Indiana Finds

MM - Congrats on the IH. Those look like some great places to hunt. Good Luck on your return trip.

Re: My Indiana Finds

Lesson learned, MM! Never take a non-md'er hunting with ya! :D I swear, when I take Charlie with me, I might get in 10 minutes before he starts in on "Are you ready to go yet?" :-X :D

You got some GREAT stuff there! Congrats on all those finds!

Nana :)

Re: My Indiana Finds

Re: My Indiana Finds

The spoon should rea W.M. rogers 1884. It's the original copyright date for the rogers silver platers, the pattern is "tipped" or "fiddle", the pattern itself dates back to the civil war, but it's VERY common, having been made for several decades. Very cool digs LOVE them IH pennies.

Re: My Indiana Finds

Nice finds, MM. It looks you could spend quite a bit of time hunting those sights.

Does the Studebaker run? One of my grandfathers would own nothing but a Stude when they were in business.

Re: My Indiana Finds

Electric fence may have caused MD to freak out being a farm site.
I have to turn it off when I hunt at my place.
It makes it hard to hunt when you get a pulsing signal every second.
Nice finds and cool set of pics.

GoldFish,
Thanks for the spoon info. I knew it had to be a bit old.

Mike,
Yep, the Stude does run. It needs some brake work though. My Dad used to own a 1964 Stude car too. I played Evel Knievel with it as a teen, and accidentally (partying) jumped a hill at the end of a country road with it. ;D It wasn't too aerodynamic, I must admit. :o

THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR REPLIES.

Great assortment of finds MM, WTG!!!
Very nice pics as well. Love them old skeleton keys.
Good luck, & Happy hunting~

Re: My Indiana Finds

Good work, MM!
I love the photos. That would have driven me crazy to have someone nagging to leave spots like that.

Congrats on the cool finds!

Re: My Indiana Finds

Oh man, those pictures are driving me nuts! I would quite work and spend a solid month mowing and detecting to clean that place out! Nice!

Re: My Indiana Finds

Great job on the IH, Miner. I just love them (my favorite of all coins) and hope to find one some day. I had to laugh about you trying to detect with a non-hunter along. I've had similar experiences and found myself actually stressed out that I wasn't finding anything!

Nice group of finds and can't wait to see what you find when you get to really stretch out.
