I took my E-Trac to an old spot for about an hour and a half this afternoon. I had declared it “hunted out” at least two years ago. I wanted to see if the E-Trac would pick up anything I missed.

Boy … did it ever …

I dug a couple of bucks in old clad. But the prize-winner was yet to come. I got a perfect, stable 10-12 signal, so I dug … almost certain that I had found a nickel. Instead I dug this little baby …

It’s a small, simple, bent and irregular wedding band. It’s clearly marked 14k.

It weighed in at 2.6 grams of 14k gold, which amounts to .0487 ounces of pure gold … worth about $83.31 at today’s melt.

Not bad for a short, cold-weather hunt!

You are right, not bad at all. Get any pop tabs?

Congrats, my Etrac is allergic to gold :(
The only gold I ever got with it was the first day I got it. Ran down to a local park, did not have any idea what I was doing, messed with the settings almost completely blacking off the screen. Third target I dug had a 2 gram 21k gold ring lol! Since then no Au.

So do you keep it or sell it?

I think I dug maybe 3 tabs the whole time ... just because they were such good, consistent signals. This ring hit at 12-14, and never changed no matter which direction I hit it from. I knew it was a solid, round target ... but I thought that target was a nickel. :) Big surprise!

It does not matter how tattered and beat up a ring looks....its gold!!! nice job.

I am a gold and silver hoarder. :laughing7: I keep every piece that I dig. I sold the first gold ring I ever found and I regret it to this day. Never again. Saving it all for the zombie apocalypse.

This is my first with the E-Trac. I probably would have missed it if I hadn't been digging solid nickel signals. I tend to dig everything in the 10-10 to 12-14 range. I will usually dig a few 10-20+ to 12-20+ signals, but grow weary of pull tabs after a while.

Like you, this one was purely accidental. But I'll take it! :icon_thumleft:
