Here's the unpacking pictures.
My 1st impression is AWESOME!
It was double boxed and the unit looks much better than I expected for such a low price.
It comes with (2) fresh EverReady 9 volt alkaline batteries packed inside the battery compartment (backwards).
It definitely doesn't look like a toy. High quality materials all the way.
I didn't have time to test its depth but I did quickly run through the simple settings. Again, AWESOME!
Anyone would love this detector.
I cracked up when I saw how the discrimination reads on the meter. Little boxes show with IRON FOIL etc. As you increase the discrimination the box discriminated out disappears. Really cool!
The tones are clear and again...AWESOME. The all-metal pinpoint is smooth and dead-on. But the discrimination pinpoint is also dead-on so the button pinpoint will rarely be needed.
I discriminated out iron and couldn't get a signal on a large pair of steel scissors. The discrimination is very powerful.
I checked a clad quarter and zinc cent and was impressed by the air distance. Since I was only eyeballing I can't be sure but it looked like about a foot on the quarter and close to that on the penny. This could mean about 8-9 inches depth which is where most VLF's are.
If this puppy works as well out in the field it will prove to be major competition for more than just the Ace.
