my first wheat back with the whites coinmaster

You might also want to post under the White's section under Metal Detectors.

Among the so-called beginner machines, the Coinmaster doesn't have that great of a reputation. That said you can find good stuff with pretty much any machine. The key is spending a lot of hours swinging your machine. By time you've spent 100 hours using a machine you'll have learned what signals certain items give you. If you want to find gold and nickels, you'll be digging up a lot of pull tabs (both the old and new kind).

Don't swing too fast. Search areas from all directions to make sure you find everything. That's because depending on how an items is laying, it might not be detected from one angle. Dig everything initially. That way you'll learn the signals your machine gives you.

The best part of all the practice is you will have a great time learning.

Congrats on the wheatie - Whites has a manual online you can download for free, I believe its right on their site. Let me know if you can not find it, I will track it down. I got my Coinmaster 4000/D manual online. .There is a very large list of all their models.. Pretty sure yours is there too.
Good luck on more cool finds!
