MY FIRST TREASURE

well to start i have been wanting a md for awhile.i have been lurking here trying to figure out which kind to buy.i was looking towards the ace 250 according to the many satisfied posts on this site.seeing how i am a beginner this seemed the best buy for the buck.went to a flea market yesterday morning and saw a md laying in the corner it looked brand new.after checking it out it was a garrett gtax 550 the guy selling it said it worked but it was missing the battery pack and cover for one side but would take 50 dollars for it.i was excited but was not sure if it would work or not. to good to be true with my luck. well i bought it and went to a md store the next town over and bought baterry pack for 3 dollars the owner gave me a cover. fired it up and it works great.i am going to aschoolyard later to check it out.i amjust so excited to find my first treasure my new gtax550.

Excellent deal. I like my 550. You should get lots of good use out of it. I believe that you can download the manual as well right from Garrett's website.

I have a Garrett GTA550 and I think it works great!!
It's really easy to use and is pretty accurate with ID'ing.

Welcome to the forum,What a great deal on a fine detector ,that one will reach down.The more you use it the better you will like it.Try burying different targets both good and bad at different depths ,that will help a lot on learning the characteristics of a new detector. Good Luck Bob
