I found this $5 note at the store i work at, so i swapped it with a fiver from my pocket. I know its not worth much but the serial is a decent number.
serial IL00096360*.
2006 E1
Im not usually in to notes but damn. 25 years from now when my daughter is old enough to marry, it might be worth 5 times its value.

Look up "liar's poker" on the Internet. It is a game where you use the serial number on a bank note to come up with poker hands. This one is decent but not great. Four zeros and two sixes.

There are also many "lucky" numbers that command a higher premium. Late last year the US BEP introduced special dollar bills with serial numbers commemorating the "Year of the Snake" and packaged in Chinese looking envelopes. So you never know how much a specific serial number will be worth.

In addition, if I remember right from my coin collecting days, the * on the bills means it is a reprint. Normally reprinted because the initial factory run had a problem so they had to be destroyed before they were put into circulation. Because most bills are not reprinted, * bills are more rare.
