My First Silver

I found this 43 nickle in the middle of a cornfield a few days ago. It was about 2 inches deep. It was the only hit I got in the area.....

When did they stop printing silver. What is the date range Could one say that anything before 19?? will be silver?

Nice Find! The only nickels that are silver are from 1942-p to 1945-s.

It is Easy to Tell Yours IS SILVER.

It has The MINT MARK above the DOME.

As far as other coins (besides pennies) anything pre-1965 will be silver (U.S.-wise).
Kennedy halves being the exception. They were partially silver up until later years, but I don't have my redbook with me and I'm haivng a serious brain cramp right now!

Nickels were only silver(I'm thinking 35-40%) 1942-45. Dimes, quarters, halves, and dollars were silver(90%) before 1965. Kennedy halves from 1965-70 were about 30% silver.
