There was a picnic grove in a local forest preserve that seemed much newer than the rest of the preserve, so I had not looked into it much. Last night I looked at 1939 aerial photos and noticed the drive was there and it used to be a ball diamond, so I decided to give it a look.
In my first 5 minutes there, I found this 1959 -D Rosie at about 5-6 inches in a fairly trashy place. No other keepers today, but I am guessing there will be more to be found there.
It was an exhilarating experience seeing a silver reeded edge in the soil and knowing what was there!

That is the best part of the hunt, in my opinion. You know you've got something good, but you haven't fully checked it out yet! Like Christmas morning or meeting the girl you're going to marry! :o

Congrats on your first found silver & many more to ya!!

P2C,
Big Congrats on popping your cherry! Now go find some Mercs, Barbers and SLQ's then you will really be hooked.

"meeting the girl you're going to marry"
Sounds too much like an assignment Neil!
