My first Silver Dollar? Not, but pretty close!

Talk about a heart stopper! Today, I went out for a quick lunch time hunt at a local permission and popped this out of the ground within 20 minutes. LOL i just knew it was a silver dollar by its size and weight so i carried it back to the car and sat it on the floorboard without looking at it. And why would i not look? I had every intention of bringing it home to my kids and discover what it was in their presence. Needless to say...i could not make it home. My curiosity got the better of me and i stopped to clean the dirt off. It turned out to be a One Crown from Australia. Yes it was a disappointment because i have yet to find a silver dollar but i'll take it. I also found a service button in pretty good condition.

yes that's a very good positive.

Oh get this....It was my very first silver coin found with my Tesoro Tejon! I am totally blown away with the luck i have had on my past two hunts.

Well if you lived in the UK or Australia you would be jumping up & down. Dad & I with nearly 40 years combined detecting have never found any SILVER CROWNs. A few Half Crowns is as close as we have come. Ask the Aussie's & you get a similar response, I would think.

Yes a make my day, make my year and even make my decade find. Just to make things clear, I absolutely love this coin. The disappointment came from expecting one thing and finding it to be something else.
