Ok, its been about three years now and I finally found my first ring. And I believe it is civil war time period. I have been hitting a section of woods that have turned up over 50 3 ringer bullets and a number of buttons now. I was told by the land owner that I have found an area that previous relic hunters had hit years ago and told him that it was a civil war staging area for troop movements to the battle of Fredericksburg. Most of my targets have been at least 8 inches deep, I thank my XP Deus for picking them up, because they have been very faint signals. But my most recent find this morning was a ring. I haven't found a whole lot of jewelry, but I finally found a ring and I think it is period to the area I have been detecting.
There are no markings on the inside of the band indicating what it is made of. I believe it is gold, it came out of the ground shinning just as it is.
Two buttons, one is an Officer Staff Button and the other a regular Eagle. All the buttons have been rough, I think maybe it was farm land at one time. Maybe the fertilizer took its toll.
Not sure about this one.
Cool button, found in a different area.
There was what looked like an old road that fed this camp, I followed it for a bit and found this Indian Head. Obviously from much later, but I'll take it.
Odd bullet, maybe carved....
So, all in all, it was a good time. I will continue to hit it as long as the hunters aren't in there. A lot of tree stands set up. Thanks for looking and HH!
