I went hunting the dry sand after a fireworks display and reggae concert here in Okinawa. Found a lot of clad and some junk jewelry. Nothing really to speak of until my md displayed O.L.. I took a good look and noticed something sticking out of the sand. It turned out to be an I-Phone 5. The problem was when I finally charged it up it was a local's phone and only had japanese text. I went to the local cell phone store and they told me that they couldn't help me locate the owner but that I could leave it with them...and they would do their best to return it. FAT CHANCE! After about three days I got a cal from someone and couldn't understand a lick of what they were saying. We finally were able to figure out that the person that lost the phone had went to their service provider to have them help locate her phone.

My wife and I drove out to a coffee shop to meet the owner. She was exstatic to see us! She spoke broken english and we described to her where we found the phone. She told us she was watching the fireworks and gave us the universal sign for "tipping a few drinks back". After some pleasantries were exchanged she handed us a shopping bag.My wife was chatting like the woman knew what she was saying... My wife is such a dweeb...JK... We would have never expected anything but did not want to offend her. She was deeply gratefull and could not thank us enough. Put one in the karma column for us. Here is what she handed us for returning the phone. For clarification, my wife did the waiting, going to the local cell phone company , I went because i had to drive and she handed the call over to me because she didnt know the location of the person who was calling... She ate most of the snacks!! lol

Yuck, those snacks look too healthy.

still, a return is a return... happy was she? the anticipation of meeting a total stranger in order to return a lost item is pretty exciting but when you throw in the language diff as well, barriers get broken by sheer excitement. congrats on the return Jerry
