Hello all...I use to post on this board but this was about 2 years ago or so, haven't posted on it in a LONG time, but I have read the forums from time to time. I use to live in New Jersey and my name on the board then was Burning Metal, well I now live in Florida and plan to get out more often with my ACE250. When I lived in Jersey I found some pretty decent stuff including an 1852 Large Cent, a bunch of Mercury Dimes and Silver Quarters, a couple 14kt gold rings and about 10 Sterling Silver rings plus a bunch of other cool stuff. I found enough pocket change up there to way more then pay for my detector!
Since I moved to Florida I have hit the beaches a few times but been pretty disappointed actually as I really didn't find much at all...my best and only ring find was a VERY small 14kt ring. I also found a couple small gold earrings but nothing spectacular at all. When I lived in Jersey I was NEVER skunked detecting, I always found something...down here I've been skunked a couple times. I LOVE living here in West Central Florida, only live about 10 miles from the Gulf Beaches here in Bradenton.
It was strange as the absolute FIRST time I went detecting down here and my first hit was the ring! Since then not much of anything else.
Anyway, I plan on hitting more schools, parks and also the beaches, hopefully I'll have better luck...

Welcome back- it seems I am in good company as an old member who is just returning. I've been away for the better part of the last three or four years, myself.

I live in SE Georgia but was born and raised in Florida. It might take a while for you to get acclimated, TH-ing wise- it is bound to be a big switch from NJ. I feel your pain on the beach thing- I have never found much of anything on our local (St. Simons Island) beaches, though I did find gold rings twice in the past.

You never got skunked in Joisey? Welcome to the South, Bubba. We've got plenty of skunks down here. :laughing7:

There are always goodies to be found, too, however. And hey, now you don't have to put the detector away when winter comes, right?

Nice to have you back.... I consider Florida one of the treasure capitals of the world, you have all those tourists every year and all the sunken ships, hey just keep looking, you'll start finding stuff.....
