MY FIRST PLATE....................YES

I found this in my back yard... Sterling, Colorado.... I know that several troops came through this area in the 1870's, they were helping the settlers move through the plains. Also Fort Sedgwick is 58 miles from here, Fort Wicked was 7 miles from here...

Re: Civil war buckle

Nice Plate
Many years ago my Denver MD club used to detect Ft. Sedgwick every year. Found a lot of relics there at the old fort site. Countless buttons and bullets were found by everyone but plates were more difficult to find after the first year or two. Always a couple of old coins were found every year.

Nice find- I bet it felt great to find it.

Nice find!

Re: Civil war buckle

Outstanding for a yard find. There has to be some more stuff out there. Hit it hard in several directions and let us know what you find. Monty

Re: Civil war buckle

Brass looks too shiney to me to be an original. I have never seen one come out of the ground with the brass still shining.
