You've only just begun....to detect. Your future is spotted with brightness and fun....

Congratualtions on the old wheat cent! May your coil find many more! :occasion14:

Congrats but know that's only the beginning! Wait until your first silver pops out and the floodgates are opened!

something about getting that 1st one out of the way and then more come. congrats. my 1st old coin was also a wheat penny. actually, my 1st 10 or so old coins then i finally hit a silver dime. the 1st time you see silver looking at you out of the hole is amazing. congrats!!!!!

That works. Congrats.

It sounds like you might be hooked… Keep swinging my friend.

Wheat pennies never get old for me to dig. I get pumped up when i find one.

Congratulations, Hughie..........you're on your way to better and older coins!!

Well if that's your gold coin, can't wait to see what my gold coin feels like to you.....Still thinking of a parallel....

It might have been minted on D-Day! Good luck on your next find!

Congratulations on your first Wheat Penny.
Put it in a coin folder. Mark the date and location of where you found it. Then it will fit right in with the first Indian Head Penny that I know you will find soon.

My first old coin! Today in a tot lot I found a 1944 wheat penny, might not seem like much to the seasoned detectorists but today for me it's gold. I get a kick out of all the junk I dig up, but it's nice to get something extra cool on occasion.

Nice! To me it is gold as well. I've only found 3. Nothing wrong with a nice wheatie!

Yes, that is what I do. I have a bunch of different coin folders. I have 16 currently: 1 for shield pennies, 5 for memorials, 1 for wheaties, 1 for the new nickels, 1 for the bicentennial nickels, 1 for old jefferson nickels, 2 for dimes, 1 for state parks quarters, 1 for state quarters, 1 for eagle quarters, and 1 for tokens. I mark the first of everything in a google docs, and where and what month i achieved it.

Great job you will have many firsts it is always fun even after years of detecting Keep up the good finds and keep posting Thanks for sharing your awesome find!!!!!

Congrats on your oldest coin!! This wheat is just the beginning of many more first to come.
