Today I found my first merc and my oldest coin. It is a 1918 and pretty worn. I found it right in front of my grandmas old house that was built in the 1930's. It was only about 2" in the ground and I was very surprised to find where I did. It was in the front yard with a lot of newer coins. My dad always told me there was probably silver there and I'm glad he was right. I didn't get to detect long so I'm going to go back sometime this week and hopefully I find more!

AHHHHHH There is nothing like your first merc.
Congrats.

Love those Mercs. I've only found a couple in the last two years (1940 and '44), but remember the moments fondly!

Ah, those old coins had so much character. This new stuff is little more than junk. Congratulations mate.
