Hi all,

I did a quick hunt last Thursday evening after work. I went to the tree farm again. This time I tried the old road that was used in the 1700's. Not long into my hunt I got a hot rock signal but it was just high enough on the depth gage that I decided to dig. About 6 inches down I unearthed my oldest coin to date. A 1721 King George l copper in pretty good condition. I have found a few there before but not this nice and this is my first KGl. The pictures are obverse/reverse and a pic of what they would have looked like when they were made. Thanks for looking.

Ed-

Wow I would love to detect where there is a chance to find something like that! That is a great find.

Congrats.

Awesome KGI coppa, Ed! My buddy, Paco, found one last year. They are cool to find.

I want one now! How deep was he?

Kirk  :coffee2:

The first one is really nice.
The last two have great detail. LOL ;D
Congratulations.

Hi Kirk thanks for your kind words. The copper was about 6 inches deep under a rock in some kind of blackish soil. I think that type of soil is what preserved it. I found some KGll and KGlll at this site in the garden area and they were not very pretty.

Thanks to all for your kind replies ;D

Georgie doesn't like me.

But I'm glad he likes you.

Great KG I. That coin looks great. Never got a KGI myself...only a KGII. Congratulations.

Congrats Ed, looks better than the one I dug. Great Find

I saw yours. It is actually pretty nice considering the age. I have found a few KGll and KGlll at this same farm and they are not all that nice. Too bad we can't find more of those beautiful capped Liberty and flowing hair American coppers!!! Those are still on my wish list.

very nice king george, I found my first last month but could hardly see what it was, keep up the good work I like seeing those coppers!

Wow! :o Many congrats on that awesome first, Ed! :o

Nana :)
