You will never forget your first. What does it say above Danville, Illinois? Did you try to google it yet? Interesting find.

Iroquis Insurance - Danville, Illinois

If you look closely it had a mounting hole in the headdress area along with the torn mounting hole at the bottom. I did google and it showed a bank. Not sure how old it is . The property has been in our family for over 60 years and never had Iroquis Insurance.

That is a neato Indian, Hoosier!

It will be interesting when you can find out more about it...

The folks over in Whatsit are supersleuths! If you give them a pic, and whatever info you have, they can do wonders!

Thanks RMPTR I will give it a shot.

Hoosier,
Ya had me fooled. Cool find though even if it isn't a coin. That Tesoro is working it's magic.
Congrats,
MM

Doug,

The Tesoro has been impressive. I hope to have the new coil by Thursday. We got alot of rain tonight so I will hit it hard in the morning. The ground is so hard and the grass so brown we really needed the rain. Now if I can get my relatives to get their soybeans & corn picked I can hit the fields . The only downfall I can find with the detector is screw caps and old shotgun shells with a brass base. Just can't seem to find a way to eliminate them. When can we expect some more you tube videos? I'll let you know how the new coil works out for me.

I would say it is supposed to be mounted either on the license plate frame or on the grill at the front of the car. alot of the old cars had "badges" that mounted on the grill

Tommyboy72,

You maybe right. Earlier in the summer about 12 ft in front of where I found this item I found a 1929 Buick Radiator Cap . The radiator cap is the flying women style cap. It's proably the best thing I found with my Bounty Hunter Quick Draw 2 detector .

Hi, I have something similar mounted on the grill of my Dodge Ram. it is a porcelain enamel on bronze 1920's era masonic grill badge. I bought it at a flea market from one of the dealers who had bought it along with some others that were new old stock and were in a private collection. the collector had sawed the mounting bolts off of the back so I had to drill a hole in it thru the only spot on the front that had only bronze showing that way I would not crack or damage the porcelain part. I am also including a pic of another similar badge I have that is also from the 1920's-1930's era that is perfect and brand new. it mounts on either the bumper or the license plate bracket.

p.s look at the instructions on the brown paper package, you can see how old this thing is. They have'nt made those kind of bumpers in a long time.

Tommyboy72,

Thanks for the info. I could be very well be a bumper or license plate badge. Half the fun is figuring out what it is exactely.

I know what you mean about those shotgun shells. They drive me nuts. :tard: They are very iffy for sure. I did them though, because what I thought was a shotgun shell before has turned out to be a nickle or an old button.
I should have a new vid tonight on my post. Thanks buddy.
