Congrats, I always enjoy finding Injuns. :icon_thumright:

:icon_thumright: congrats on your first indian, great feeling ain't it? knowing you're holding something nobody has touched in probally over a hundred years. hope theres more there for you to find. H.H. fred

I don't see any sign of it being the overdate, but it is in pretty rough shape. I am not even quite sure if it is an 1888 or 1898. Definitely not a coin to get graded, but that doesn't take away anything from a great find. Congratulations.

THANKS IT WAS A GREAT FEELING WHEN I PICKED IT UP,
I HAVE CLEANED IT SOME MORE IT CLEARLY IS AN 1888, I LOOKED AT IT HALF THE NIGHT, LOL, CLEANING IT WITH SOAP AND WATER BY HAND EVENTUALLY I COULD MAKE IT OUT IN THE RIGHT LIGHT
THANKS AGAIN I HOPE TO GET BACK OUT THERE AND FIND THE REST OF THE TRIBE SOON

I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND A PERFECT LOOKING COIN, AND I STILL COULD NOT SEE THE 7 UNDER THE 8, ALTHOUGH THEY WERE MARKETING IT ON EBAY AS ONE

Better pics would be necessary under magnification to clarify any opinion. But from the evidence provided, it does appear to have the overdate. Note at 2 o'clock, there is a point of the acute angle of the 7. However, I only see the point in the last 2 pictures. Perhpas, it is wishful thinking on my part.

I WILL TRY TO POST BETTER PICS AFTER WORK

I MEAN I WILL SURELY POST MORE PICS, LOL,

Another diagnostic of the 1888/7 is the seventh feather down in the head dress. On the overdate the tip of the feather is flat and indistinct, almost the same level as the field of the coin. This coin does not seem to display this. Another is a large rim cud over the E in UNITED, this doesn't show on this coin, but in this condition may not show even if it were present.

Like I said earlier, most likely wishful thinking on my part for the OP. In the present condition, even if the overdate could be confirmed, I don't think it will earn any premium. Most likely a conversation piece and a noteworthy footnote to a memorable find.

thanks for the input going to try and post a few more pics in a few
im happy with the find either way its my first so i wont forget it

im hoping these pics are some what better,
