Well, the rain stopped sometime in the early hours of the morning, so after a short lie in I thought I would go detecting. Yeah right, first of all I had to tidy the garden, sweep leaves etc, then give Benson his insulin, then wash the car and the list went on. I did manage 3 hours this afternoon though, and I'm glad I did. The field is still stubble, but now with a lot of weeds growing through making it quite hard to detect. But after a while I got a weak good signal and dug up my first harness pendant 12th to 14th century :hello2:, then lots of tombac buttons and then some utility buttons. I stopped for a cup of coffee and to admire the pendant, and decided to go over to the Saxon part of the field. 20 minutes or so later the Bessy penny popped up followed shortly by the Saxon pin head (Circa 8th - mid 10th century AD) and the crown of a silver thimble. Along the way I saw an old ink bottle lying on the surface, so I took that home and gave it a clean. All in all a good day for me :icon_thumleft:. Did I tell you, it's my first harness pendant :laughing7:

I like the pendant. Thanks for showing the flip-side. It's nice to see the manufacturing, not just the face of the object. At first pass I thought it might have been cast. Clearly it is not. Great finds, altogether.

Not gold plated, but could be possible, if you take a photo I could tell you in seconds.

Hi "H":hello:. To quote Mark Twain "The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated". I have been a bit too busy to go detecting for a while, but I will be going out soon, and hopefully find something worth posting:laughing7:
