My first hard stone find

I found this when I was 15 years old. I have had it on other forums, and still not 100% sure of what it is. It does have wear on the pole end, as well as a few plow dings. John

yeah, looks like a stone celt/axe/pounder for sure
 

I've seen a few grooved picks that look similar to that. I'd lean towards either a grooved pick or a hoe of some sort. It's flat on one side so they wanted to be able to get a linear strike or pull with that side.
 

Ok thanks guys. I think I'll go with grooved adz. thanks for the comments. seem like it was split last time between axe and adz. Adz makes more sence to me. I just have not seen anything like it before. SoIll, very nice celt you found for your first hardstone find. I contribute mine as maybe the one that got me hooked on this hobby so many years ago. thanks for the comment guys. John
 

That's a great find. Looks to me like it might be a type of hoe used for cultivating. Just my 2 cents.
 

Thanks guys, Gilmerman I hunt year round. The only time I take a break is deer, turkey season. Dont want to get shot. Thanks for your comments. John
