Ummmm, no big deal all you found was an 600 year old extremely rare hammered......... HOLY SMOKES THATS A BEAUTY!!!!!!!!

This one is a little difficult as the mintmark above the crown is missing (ie broken off).

So here are the facts:

Its a Halfpenny
On the reverse is the long cross with 3 pellets in each corner. CIVITAS LONDON - City of London (Minted in London)

The Obverse legend begins 'RICARD' so its either Richard II (1377-99) or Richard III (1483-85). I would guess its more likely the II.

Dad & I find about 30 hammered a year & have a good album full. We only have 1 coin from Richard II & none from the III. So in my opinion its a rare find & a great start to your hammered collection. ;D

Also welcome from a fellow Brit to Tnet. 8)
