Hello IL friends and Happy Holidays. I hope everyone is doing good. I miss hunting with you and hope you don't mind getting a California story from me once in a while.
Well, I made plans to get out early on Saturday with some other guys but ended up drinking too much the night before... long story short, I showed up late and they already dug over 5 silvers without me. We spent a couple more hours there before getting lunch and they were counting the loot at the table while I ate my food and congratulated them... We decided to head to another close by park where a few more silvers and wheaties came out over the next hour. After taking a break we decided to give one more area a try before leaving. On our walk over there I was still riding the silver-less skunk train which was 4 hunts long and I announced very sarcastically that it was time to dig a half! I started hitting some shallow wheaties one of which broke into the '30s and I was thinking that silver HAS to be close by. Next target was not normal at all... numbers were bouncing all over with just a PEEP of high tone. You will see in the pictures how many rusty nails I dug chasing those masked silvers. I wasn't even expecting a coin to pop out and when I saw a gray rim I was mostly confused and went in for a closer look. It wasn't until I saw the year I realized what I had and shouted for the boys to get over here! I was actually so happy I was speachless. Makes me wonder how many more half's I've missed due to weird signals.
Thanks for reading and enjoy the pics. Happy Holidays and be sure to dig those weird signals!
