I didn't find my 100th ring today , but I think I found my first gold watch , well what's left of it . It has no marks so I tested it and it passed the 10K acid test . It weighs 13 grams . Anyone have any thoughts on this ? It does not look plated but maybe it is . I wasn't going to post it but I thought maybe someone might know if it's real .
Happy 4th !!!
Glen

I don't know how to read your chemical test (check with your directions) but the face looks promising. Early gold watches from the 1910-1930 period, especially the really expensive ones, had flat cases like this.

If the gold that is on the test stone doesn't fade after applying the acid it should mean that it is real .

I just tested it a different way . I used a file on the watch and then put the acid on the spot that was filed . It had no bubbles or change in color !!! Should be the real thing !!! The value would be around $262.00 :headbang: .

absoulutey NO QUESTION - that's gold.

I have had a many of times testing gold and having the 10K acid EAT UP AND DISSOLVE my streak in less than 10 seconds.

SWEET - AND IT WEIGHS A DECENT AMOUNT - TIME TO SELL THE GOLD AND put the $$$$ in your hobby - towards new detector, new digging equipment, airline ticket to the beach if it was me!!!!

What it give you for a tone?I really like my M-6!

It was a +68 , +72 like a penny . The times when I have found larger pieces of gold it has a higher VDI .

Congrats on your gold find Glen! :notworthy:

If I were you, I'd melt it down into the shape of a fancy ring and call it #100 buddy! :laughing7:
